Bridging science, society and policy with the German Stem Cell Network

The German Stem Cell Network (GSCN) connects science, society and policy to advance stem cell research. Since 2013, it has promoted innovation, ethics and public engagement. Recognizing Europe’s need for stronger collaboration, the GSCN aims to build a pan-European network to enhance research and translation, and to support young scientists.

A superb meeting: The 13^th GSCN Conference (15 until 17 Oct. 2025) was a scientific highlight and an outstanding networking event: With the high ranked key note speakers Viviane Tabar (New York City, USA), Timm Schroeder (Basel, Switzerland), Jacob Hanna (Rehovot, Israel), Wolfram-Hubertus Zimmermann (Göttingen, Germany),  Hongkui Deng (Beijing, China), and  Maria-Elena Torres-Padilla (Munich, Germany), three GSCN Awardees, 54 talks, three symposia, two poster sessions, a new record with 500 participants, two networking events, a non-PI Meeting, a computational workshop - and a great atmosphere.  Thank you all for being part in the conference and in our network - and see you next year in Berlin (9 - 11 Sept. 2026).

The "GSCN 2025 Young Investigator Award" goes to  Aydan Bulut-Karslıoğlu of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Genetics in Berlin.
The GSCN 2025 Hilde Mangold Award goes to Michaela Frye from the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.
The GSCN Publication of the Year Award 2025 goes to Bryce Lim, Aryan Kamal, … , Judith Zaugg and Moritz Mall. They receive the "GSCN 2025 Publication of the Year Award" for their joint publication "Active repression of cell fate plasticity by PROX1 safeguards hepatocyte identity and prevents liver tumorigenesis” in the journal Nature Genetics 57, 668–679 (2025).
